Video Submissions

Welcome to the O’Reilly Learning Platform Video Submission Guide. Content providers will find this guide invaluable in preparing and delivering their content to O’Reilly Learning in accordance with their contracts. The information in this document is confidential and proprietary to O’Reilly Media, Inc. and is not to be disclosed by the publisher to any third party with the exception of a distribution agency pursuant to delivering content to O’Reilly Media, Inc. on the provider’s behalf. Exceptions require an appropriate, signed non-disclosure agreement.

Whether you’re a new content provider or a long-standing O’Reilly Learning partner, we will keep you informed of the latest updates to our title submission process in this documentation. In the constantly evolving technological landscape, we strive to adapt and update our processes to accommodate your workflows and tool-chains and make it easier for you to get your content to a growing audience.

O’Reilly Learning uses a video provider to intelligently stream video content in the format and bitrate appropriate to the end user’s device and bandwidth. To provide the best possible experience for users, it’s best to provide your highest quality source files.

File naming is the key to the video process: specific file naming conventions tell the system that a given clip goes with its "chapter" in the table of contents, so pay special attention to the file naming section.

Closed captioning is supported in our player; we encourage each publisher to provide caption files when possible for accessibility.
